UCLA Baseball, The Road to Omaha Begins NOW

The UCLA baseball program – at one point #1 in the nation – has received the number six seed nationally as NCAA Regionals begin. This is the first time in the program’s storied history that they have received a national seed, and subsequently are hosting their first regional at Jackie Robinson Stadium.

The Bruins, who also set a program record of 43 regular season wins (to go against 13 losses), will begin play on Friday, June 4th against Kent State. The four-team, double-elimination bracket also includes LSU and UC Irvine, who also happens to be coach John Savage’s former stomping grounds.

The Bruins are the favorite to reach the College World Series based on a solid offense led by Tyler Rahmatulla & Dean Espy, but more importantly the magic pitching foursome of Gerrit Cole, Garett Claypool, Trevor Bauer and Rob Rasmussen. The team ERA was 3.02, and all four starters are going to be high MLB draft picks (as well as closer Dan Klein).
