DodgerBlast: Garret Anderson Signs, Checking In with Juan Pierre
Proving that there’s always room for a Kennedy High School (Granada Hills) alum on the Dodger roster (Jon Garland), the awkwardly effective swing of Garret Anderson will be in Phoenix for Dodger camp. YKI has always been a supporter of GA, even though his reputation for less-than-full-effort (especially in the outfield) has been bandied about for his entire career. His appears non-chalant, but is basically an effortless, smooth player that is misunderstood through his reticence with the media. The Valley native is actually a borderline Hall of Famer a la Harold Baines. Good numbers, but not great – as my friend Mailman Maloney would say – “he’s a lock for the Hall of Very Good.”

The L.A. Times’ Kevin Baxter reports that Juan Pierre is happier and freer in Chicago. Good for Juan, whose career was nearly derailed the day he signed with the Dodgers for that monstrous contract (for a leadoff hitter, low OBP, etc). The Manny Ramirez signing almost rendered him obsolete, but he proved his worth – and won Dodger fans hearts – by filling in admirably during Manny’s suspension. The ironic thing? As a stop gap, he did what he ALWAYS does – hit, score runs & steal bases. His great attitude and professional approach was definitiely appreciated by YKI.

Not a borderline hall-of-famer.
Ditto!
ANDERSONS NUMBERS DONT FULLY REFLECT THE INTRICACIES OF HIS IMPACT ON A COMPREHENSIVE TEAM LEVEL PARTICULARLY WHEN YOU LOOK AT HIS OBP AND BA WITH RISP AND CONSIDERING HIS POINTED SUCCESS AGAINST LEFTIES THIS SEEMS TO BE A PRUDENT ACQUISITION FROM A SMALL-BALL PERSPECTIVE AND FURTHERMORE
WAIT WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO LIAM NEESON BRO
JUST NOTICED HES GONE FROM THE HEADER AND NO SEAN CONNERY EITHER WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU OUT OF KILT GUYS OR WHAT
TWO WORDS FOR YOU BRO WILLIAM FUCKIN WALLACE
Garret Anderson is going to be a solid player if the Dodgers let him play. Giles sucks, so does Reed Johnson. Should have just signed GA right away instead of wasting time with those monkeys.
Brian Giles: Lifetime on-base-%: .400
Garrett Andersons: .325
Brian Giles’s OBA in 2008: .398
They both hit about 14 HR’s. One gets on 40% of the time, the other gets on 32% of the time.
Anyone who has ever played Strat-0-Matic baseball will tell you: IT’s ALL about ON BASE PERCENTAGE.
Hello. I think Tiger is scum. But I like that.
